My name is Joyce Smith, although I write under the name Joyce Valdois Smith. I live in the beautiful Ozarks with my husband, Bob, and our Porgy (Pug-Corgi mix), Teddy. Bob and I celebrated our 55th anniversary in June 2025. We have four married children, twelve grandchildren, and one foster grandson who is married and has two children. Two of our daughters live near us in Missouri. Our son, middle daughter, and their families live in South Carolina.
Four of our grandchildren are in the Missouri Army National Guard, and eight are in college or pursuing careers. We are very proud of each of them.

I have three published novels in the Harvey Girls Legacy series, Romance Along the Rails, Home for the Heart, and Beauty from Ashes, and one novella, Inconvenient Love. They are all based on the Harvey Houses and Harvey Girls across different time periods and follow the Gilbertson family. I also have two published children’s books: Grandpa Forgot My Name and A Christmas Treasure Hunt.
